Fill the muffin tin: Divide the batter evenly among the 12 muffin cups, filling each about three-quarters full. Sprinkle the tops with coarse sugar if using, for a crunchy, bakery-style finish.
8 Bake: Bake for 20 to 22 minutes, or until the tops are golden and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs.
9 Cool: Let the muffins cool in the tin for 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely, or enjoy them warm.

Note
You can also use raspberries or chopped strawberries in place of blueberries for a different fruity twist. If using frozen blueberries, add them straight from the freezer without thawing, as thawed berries tend to bleed color into the batter. For an extra bakery-style touch, add a light crumb topping made from butter, flour, and sugar before baking.
